Bortoletti wax seal stamp – Napoleon
The Bortoletti Napoleon wax seal stamp is a heritage-inspired sealing set handmade in Venice for those who appreciate historical symbolism, decorative craftsmanship, and elegant stationery accessories. Supplied with a decorative handle and the SIM105 Napoleon wax seal stamp, this refined set brings authority, character, and traditional Italian craftsmanship to letters, invitations, gift presentation, and keepsake documents.
A wax seal stamp inspired by Napoleon
The Napoleon design honours one of history’s most recognisable imperial figures and draws on symbols closely associated with power, sovereignty, and military achievement. At the centre of the stamp is the imperial eagle, an emblem linked to ancient Rome and later adopted as a mark of strength and authority. Surrounding the design are finely engraved bees, a historic symbol of immortality, renewal, and French sovereignty that became closely associated with Napoleon’s imperial identity.
What is included
This set includes a decorative Bortoletti handle and one SIM105 Napoleon wax seal stamp. The stamp is crafted in hand-finished bronze and made to produce detailed wax seal impressions with a distinctive historic design. A guarantee certificate is also included, reinforcing its Italian origin and workshop craftsmanship.
Decorative design for refined correspondence
With its bold imperial motif and decorative engraving, the Napoleon wax seal stamp is particularly well suited to formal stationery, presentation packaging, certificates, special occasion correspondence, and gift wrapping. It adds a more commanding and memorable finish than a plain initial, making it a strong choice for those who want their seal to feel both historic and distinctive.
Practical use and sealing performance
The sealing wax should be melted carefully using an alcohol lamp, spirit burner, or kitchen lighter. Once poured, press the stamp into the wax and allow around 20 seconds before lifting for a crisp and detailed impression. A good quality sealing wax should melt smoothly, flow evenly, remain workable for long enough to take the design cleanly, and release well after cooling.
Enhance your wax seal impressions
For an even more decorative finish, the raised details of your wax seal can be highlighted using Bortoletti wax cream, available in pots of gold or silver. This is a simple way to bring out initials, symbols, and engraved details, adding extra contrast and a more luxurious finish to your completed seal.
Product dimensions and compatibility
The Napoleon wax seal stamp measures 22 mm in diameter, the standard size used across most interchangeable Bortoletti wax seal stamps. This makes it suitable for use with compatible Bortoletti wax seal handles, offering flexibility for customers who enjoy building a collection of different symbols and designs.
Bortoletti Italian craftsmanship
Bortoletti is an Italian maker associated with Venice, traditional decorative metalwork, and fine writing and sealing accessories. The Napoleon wax seal stamp reflects that heritage through its hand-finished bronze construction, detailed engraving, and presentation as a refined desk accessory. It is a piece that combines practical use with the artistic character for which Bortoletti is well known.

Hi Trina,
Thank you for asking. Bortoletti recommends using 90% pure alcohol or denatured alcohol (Methylated spirits) for a stable, odourless flame that does not burn or discolour the wax.
The two best, least expensive fuels for the alcohol lamps are denatured ethanol (ethyl alcohol; grain alcohol), and methanol (methyl alcohol; wood alcohol; methylated spirit); both can be cheaply obtained at hardware stores or home-improvement centers.
What is the alternative to denatured alcohol for alcohol lamp?
Try using >99% isopropyl alcohol. It's the closest in structure and physical properties. Denatured alcohol is mostly ethanol with methanol mixed in so it can be sold for non-food use.
Please note that Calligraphy Arts does not sell this as it requires specialist posting, but it is freely available at many hardware and cosmetic accessory stores.
I hope that helps,
Jane
Hello Irene,
Thanks for asking. To seal a lid on a jar, you need to heat the end of the sealing wax with something like a kitchen lighter and carefully drip the melted wax over the area you want to seal. Then, while the wax is still warm, you can press your stamp.
